선화증권은 선박회사별 소정의 양식을 인쇄하여 사용하도록 허용하고 있으나 그 내용은 공히 법률상 요구되는 법정기재사항과, 계약당사자간의 특약에 의해 기재되는 임의기재사항이 있으며 그 내용은 다음과 같다.

① 선적항(Port of shipment)
② 최종목적항(Place of ultimate destination of the goods)
③ 송화인의 이름(The name of the shipper)
④ 선명(The name of the vessel)
⑤ 선장의 이름(The name of master of the vessel)
⑥ 양륙항(Port of discharge)
⑦ 수화인(The name of the consignee)
⑧ 운송기호 및 수량(Marks and number of the goods)
⑨ 품명(Description)
⑩ 운임(Freight amount)
⑪ 운임률(Freight rate)
⑫ 중량(Weight)
⑬ 용적(Measurement)
⑭ B/L의 발행매수(Number of B/L issued)
⑮ B/L의 작성지(Place of issue of B/L)
B/L의 작성년월일(Date of issue of B/L) 등
